10. Is there a resolution for ADD?Depending on the underlying cause, the answer fortunately is yes for most people and cases. But first it is imperative to accurately diagnose the cause of the ADD-like symptoms and treat that cause. If a child has a food allergy or parasites (more common than one would like to think), than treat that condition. If a child began manifesting ADD-like symptoms after getting his first mercury amalgam fillings (but was fine before), consider that he might be sensitive to mercury and get the fillings replaced with composite fillings and do a thorough detoxification protocol (call us for assistance with this). Same for Autistic Spectrum Disorders if some of the deficiencies or problems began showing up after the child received a vaccination laden with Thimerosal (a mercury compound). If there was a recent trauma in the home such as a death, divorce, move or job change, and their misbehavior began occurring around the time of the event, address those issues with counseling, extra love and effort and parental discipline to bring stability back into the home. If a child has cognitive issues, have them tested by someone who can definitively test for and diagnose various forms of dyslexia and True ADD. Test for an auditory or visual dyslexia or discrimination skills problem. Do not assume that because the child has ADD-like symptoms that they have ADD and thus should be treated with psychotropics. This would be analogous to treating a fever (see our earlier discussion) with aspirin rather than finding out and treating the real cause of the fever, be it a pneumonia, viral infection or whatever.
